Shoyoroll Batch 10: ‘ComPadre’ and ‘Americana’ Pre-Order on May 20

Shoyoroll‘s Batch 10 gis, the ComPadre and the Americana, will go on sale on May 20 for just two hours starting at 3pm ET/noon PT through BudoVideos.

The ComPadre features brown and orange accents on a white gi, while the Americana features red and white on a blue gi. Both gis include heavy-duty, but lightweight jackets and pants with contrast stitching.

Shoyoroll Batch 7 Designs

Being the good man that he is, Vince over at Shoyoroll just sent me over some info on the new Shoyoroll Batch 7 Gis. Luke Stewart, tattoo artist and Ralph Gracie black belt, did a collaboration with SYR and created The 7th Son black and orange kimono. Shoyoroll also has the Golden State gi in this batch which is whtie with blue stitching. There is some info below, but I will work on getting you all some more info as well.

Shoyoroll Fifty/50 Gi Pictures – 2 For Sale

Big thanks to Kenny from MD over at Sherdog for hookin me us up with these pics of the Shoyoroll Fifty/50 jiu jitsu gi. And lucky us, Ryan Hall has kicked Kenny down TWO of these gis to sell on eBay to help him raise money for his trip to Brazil (which he has promised me will be blogged in full with tons of awesomeness). You can place your bids here once the auction starts. Here are some words of wisdom straight from Kenny himself and TONS of pictures:

Dear BJJ world,

So yesterday the Shoyoroll signature Fifty/50 gis arrived at our academy, and today we finally split up the sizes and officially started selling them. Simply put, they are freaking sweet and we are all super stoked.

There are two colors. A white gi, with a silver and black trim, as well as a blue gi, with a red and black trim (with the blue gi being a bit more limited in number than the white ones). The gis are super or ultra lite, or whatever you call the batch 6. The pants are pure ripstop, and the jacket is a ripstop lightweight weave. The Shoyoroll lapel patch is back, like on the older batches, but in a new color. If you look inside the jacket you’ll see the usual SYR patch is replaced with a distinct 50/50 patch. Embroidered on the left sleeve is the round 50/50 logo. Fifty Fifty is also embroidered on the outside of the bottom right front area of the jacket. Also, there is a Fifty/50 RS embroidery on the back collar of the jacket. The back was left blank but for the competition team we will put our pre existing 50/50 competition patches on (the round logo). The coolest part is inside the jacket on the left side, there is a patch with a Theodore Roosevelt quote screen printed on it attached.

This quote is painted on the wall of our academy and is the epitome of Ryan Hall’s attitude, and his teaching that he pushes onto the students. It reads, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”

The pants also have the Fifty/50 RS embroidered by the hip, and the round logo on a small patch just under the knee pad area of the pants. Both the jacket and the pants have a new silver/black/white lining in them to match the color scheme, replacing Shoyoroll’s usual rasta lining.

Also, all the gis were packaged with Shoyoroll white belts which was cool of them to include since new guys never realize they usually have to be purchased separately.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: These Fifty/50 gis will NOT be available online, or available for mail-order. Ever. They are exclusively sold at Fifty/50 Jiu Jitsu Academy in Arlington, Virginia by cash or check. PLEASE do not call, email, Facebook, carrier pigeon, smoke (or bat) signal Ryan, Seph or Jen trying to obtain one. I took these pictures and sent them to Fight Trends for two reasons. One, because I think Fight Trends is a great site for the sport with great news and awesome giveaways and wanted to support them and help with content. Two, because there is a great amount of interest around Shoyoroll gis so I knew internet people would want to see the final product.

On July 5th, I will be moving to Brazil for the remainder of the year and as a sort of going away gesture, Ryan Hall suggested I put up two of the academy gis on Ebay, in order to get a couple extra bucks for my trip. The following are links for two 5 days auctions, a white A1 academy gi and a blue A2 academy gi. More than likely, these will be the only ones that hit the internet.

Shoyoroll Comp Standard 450 Gi

Shoyoroll Movement V1 T-Shirts

Shoyoroll Interview With Ryan Hall

RYan Hall stopped by the new Shoyoroll facility, which is awesome btw, and got a bit of training in and answered some questions. However, the best part of this video is that custom Shoyoroll gi Ryan Hall is rockin. A black gi with some super bright purple embroidery. I’m not sure if these will ever hit the street or not but if they do, i’m diggin it. Ryan talks about the Pans, competition now that he is a black belt and the 50/50 guard.

Shoyoroll Black Star T-Shirt

The Shoyoroll Black Star T-Shirt just hit the shelves over at BudoVideos and I don’t expect them to last long. It comes in either white with a green and yellow logo (Whats that? Brazil you say?) or a black tee with a orange and white SYR logo. The Shoyoroll logo is large in the middle of the tee with “Jiu Jitsu” below it.
